♥ i am love.

last week, i watched the film, i am love (2009).

if you have the time and have netflix at your fingertips, i suggest that
you stop everything you're doing, make some popcorn and get ready
to sit back and watch a visually stunning, heart-achingly gorgeous film
about an italian family possessed of wealth and touched by intrigue.

tilda swinton's performance is superb. in particular, her fluid italian
conversation mixed with a russian accent. second only to her acting is her
wardrobe in the film, which includes luxury brands like jil sander and fendi.

costume designer antonella cannarozzi worked exclusively with raf simons of
jil sander to create costumes which spoke volumes without the reserved,
inhibited character played by swinton, having to utter a word.

(watch the trailer.)

i have often read about tilda swinton's connection with the fashion world
but have never really understood the fascination until now.

here is a video she made for the spring/summer 2010

and here are some of her 2010 pringle of scotland ads. notice how her
androgynous & unique beauty lends itself to the campaigns of both
the men and women's-wear collections? love, love, love!

♥ style is a magic wand, and turns everything to gold that it touches.

"i never thought i would end up in fashion, but it makes so much sense to me now."

time out boston shoot (photo by sarah skolnick.)

during boston fashion week, i had the luck of meeting some very inspiring,
fashion-loving ladies, one of whom is the endlessly talented amanda maciel antunes.
recently featured on time out as a stylish bostonian, amanda has been living
in the city exactly three years and eight months.

originally from the suburbs of sao paolo, brazil, ms. antunes left home to
pursue a full time art career with just a suitcase and $300 to her name.
working a number of odd jobs, while taking a few fashion & art classes
at massart, this modern day cinderella was able to start her
own artistic brand, d.ama design in 2009.

her unique brand encompasses a wide collection of all things
fashion & art-related. from a styling to re-fashioned vintage pieces, to
prints & visual arts, d.ama design is literally brimming over with projects
and stylish possibilities.

when she is not working on her portfolio for zero2sixtycreative,
where she was signed as a stylist in 2010, amanda is working on her very own
online mag, spirited, which is set to come out three times a year,
and combine all of her passions: visual arts, fashion, literature and film.
she is truly a girl after my own fashion + art loving heart!

♥ rest & be thankful.

happy thanksgiving :)

there is so much to be thankful for this year.
here are a few highlights.

i am thankful that i got to share one of the happiest days
of my life with my sister.

...for the breathtaking sunsets i got to see,
and someone to share them with.

...for my beautiful mother who i hope to one day be just like,
and on whose arm my name is permanently tattooed.

...for the very best friends a girl could ask ever for.

...for the chance to see the red sox and tom petty
so much closer than i ever dreamed i would.

..for the most steadfast & loyal of pets, charleston chu,
who was with us for fourteen years and is sorely missed.

..for my amazing family full of the kindest individuals i have ever met.

..for the chance to write this blog everyday.

...and the new friends that i have made because of it.

for my kitty daughter, talula, who let's me hold her like a baby
even though she hates it. (note the claws in my back.)

..and lastly, for the bar in my closet, which still manages
to hold the weight of all dresses without breaking.

what are you thankful for this year?
